Grand Canyon 2007

Flying over the mountains to Vegas
Lake Mead from the plane
Vegas suburbs
Hoover Dam
At Grand Canyon West, we stayed at the Hualapai Lodge in Peach Springs, AZ.
The next day, we rode the bus down Diamond Creek Rd. to the Colorado River, where we loaded into rafts, hit the river for about 6 hours, then took a helicopter ride back to the top of the canyon! (Unfortunately, I didn't take the camera that day...)
Leaving Peach Springs, we traveled acrossed AZ on a historic highway!
Welcome to the Grand Canyon! First, a handful of my favorite canyon pics...
The Tusayan Ruin, a prehistoric pueblo that is over 800 years old along the South Rim
Desert View Watchtower along the South Rim
Erica videos the "painted desert" from the watchtower
Jeff attempts an artsy photo from the watchtowe.
Anne inside the watchtower
Jeff appreciates native artwork inside the watchtower
The next day, we decide to hike the first 1.5 miles down the Bright Angel Trail into the canyon.
The trail goes all the way to Phantom Ranch at the bottom of the canyon along the river, but we didn't!
Nice, easy, relaxing trail, as you can see...
Notice El Tovar Hotel at the top of the rim. The 1.5 mile rest station is where the trail makes a sharp bend in this picture
Back up at the top, here are a few shots I liked from various points along the South Rim.
"Hey Erica, let's go out on this ledge while your Mom takes a picture!"
We're the king & princess of the world!
Back with our queen and the safety of a fence!
