Hi! Thanks for visiting my web page. Below you find out a bit more about what I do. My CV is also included for those (few) who are interested.
Generally, I consider myself to be an "educational social psychologist", by which I mean that I am interested in the implications of social psychology for education. More specifically, I've conducted research on and written about the relations between the beliefs students have about themselves, their academic motivation, and their achievement. I also have an interest in the ways students spend their out-of-school time and how time use affects the beliefs they hold about themselves and their academic achievement. I am a meta-analyst by training, and much of my work involves synthesizing data.
I teach classes in the Department of Psychology: Social & Health Sciences and in the Program in Education at Duke University. I teach classes in social psychology, research methods (including a graduate-level class focused on specific challenges associated with conducting research in education) and statistics.
I am also the Managing Editor of the Methods Group for the Campbell Collaboration. In this role, I function like a journal editor, providing and coordinating methodological reviews of prospective and completed research syntheses. In addition, I consult with individuals working with C2 who need methodological and/or statistical advice for their projects.
