Randy Mayes |

Randy Mayes has been a free lance author and journalist for nine years and lives in Durham, NC. He is a Duke alumnus with degrees in biology and environmental science/ policy analysis. He specializes in science writing, media guides, and personality profiles. His journalistic experience includes two books and numerous newspaper, magazine, and web-site articles in the areas of physiology, genomics, epigenetics, and nanotechnology. His first book The Cybernetics of Kenyan Running was released in 2005 by Carolina Academic Press. He is currently completing an educational book, Understanding Genomics in Historical Context: From Aristotle to Nanotechnology, which explains genomics to a general audience and discusses biotechnology public policy issues. He has been a science writer with the UNC Office of Information & Communications where he wrote press releases and stories about university research. In addition, he authored Richmond Marathon Guide and Reebok International’s media guide for the 1999 National Outdoor Championships & 2000 Sydney Olympics for the Reebok Enclave athletes. |
