Objective

To use my experience and education to assist in the development and implementation  of clinical information systems that will increase efficiency and promote quality care.

Qualifications

Critical care RN for over twenty years; certified for 20 years; AACN member since 1982.

Familiar with hospital operations and quality improvement methods.

Reliable, flexible, and detail oriented.

Computer literate and able to meet tight deadlines. 

Excellent working relationship with all hospital departments.

Experienced in teaching:  precepting new employees, new nurses, and nursing students; lecturing at critical care course; training staff in new skills and equipment. 

Successfully implemented electronic documentation and barcode medication administration applications - providing clinical analysis and/or project management and staff training/support.

Work History

1979-2004:  Staff RN in Intensive Care, Pocono Medical Center.  Providing direct nursing care for critically ill patients; supervising ancillary staff; acting as charge nurse and preceptor; chairperson of Critical Care Clinical Practice Committee.

1997-2002:  Assistant Administrator, Assist Home Health Services, Inc. Acting in a consulting capacity in the administration of a professionals home health service, specifically in the areas of patient care and documentation; assuming administrative duties in the absence of the administrator.

2004-Present:  Clinical Analyst, Information Systems Department, Pocono Medical Center.  Responsible for participating in and/or managing the selection, development, testing, implementation, education and evaluation of house-wide computerized documentation, medication administration, and order entry systems.

Education

1979-Diploma, Williamsport Hospital School of Nursing.

2002-BSN, University of Phoenix.  Recipient of Barbara J. Crosby Award, Robert A. Gordon Memorial Scholarship, and AACN Scholarship.  Member of Sigma Theta Tau.

Currently pursuing MSN in Nursing Informatics at Duke University School of Nursing.
