The Life and
Times of Karen Francis-McWhite .... has moved

Before May 2005, I had a lot of fun maintaining a fairly
elaborate and admittedly narcissistic webpage (well, aren't all
personal webpages narcissistic?).
But then I got bored/found some perspective/moved on, even though the
website stayed the same. For
THIRTEEN MONTHS.
Then in June of 2006, I entered the blogosphere. I had some "issues" to work
out, mostly due to Fi (the pesky intramural uterine fibroid that made my life
way more interesting than I ever wanted [pics before
and after
surgery]). Though
there were no shortage of other issues: work and my studies and that anemic
thing I like to call my love life.
But then, the blog became my own little cyber-therapist, and I
became a bit nervous about my decision to become a very public diarist without
the relative security of stable, well-paid employment or a trust fund.
So, I compromised.
I like the blogosphere.
Well, not the misanthropic cyberhaters who universally cower behind
"Anonymous" or pithy (and pissy) nom-de-plumes. Rather, I like the relative ease of
finding like-minded folks with whom to exchange thoughts about eating well,
gardening, faith struggles and Wentworth Miller. So, this summer, as I pretty aggressively stepped up my efforts
to heal my body and my soul through better living and (strangely enough)
exercises in humility, I launched:
There was simply no way of getting around my love of words and
playful writing. With the
dissertation, there isn't much room for that style of prose. And yet, exploratory and creative
writing has always been something I enjoy... and need.
So,
I have a new blog: The Accidental Hippie.
From
now on, that is where I will make sense of my life and times.
