This site is an online portfolio of my work in chemical education and chemical research. I did my graduate research with Katherine Franz studying metals in biological systems and recieved my Ph.D. in Chemistry from Duke University in 2010. I am currently a postdoctoral fellow at the National Institues of Environmental Health Sciences, in the Toxicology and Pharmocology Laboratory in the group of Johnathan Freedman. I am currently studying mechanisms and genetic regulation of C. elegans response to the environmental heavy metal toxicant, cadmium.
My research interests focus on the biochemical mechanisms and genetic regulation of an organism's response to cadmium exposure. In the Freedman lab, we focus on a "translational toxicology" approach, using the model organism, Caenorhabditis elegans.
My teaching interests lie in the development of interdisciplinary undergraduate courses to promote interest in the sciences, as well as in development of traditional chemistry and other science courses.
