My first Louisville page
(back to the home page)

Not much structure here, either ..
..placeholders for some photos of Louisville ...

I've been in Louisville KY for most of a year now.
It's a nice place--very different from Raleigh ..
..
I live just south of downtown, a couple of miles north of Churchhill
Downs (I see the twin spires every time I go to the grocery store) ...

... in an area called "Old Louisville," full of late-Victorian houses,
ornate brick and masonry, gorgeous wrought iron ..

.. in
Raleigh we have over a half-acre in a beautiful old tree-covered
neighborhood, quiet and peaceful
... here I'm in a very small
apartment in a very urban setting ..

.. not having to commute is nice, after 19 years of driving 25 miles each way, in Raleigh ..
(My drive each way is less than 2 miles but it's much closer in a straight line)
..
and urban living is nice in a way .. walking to stores ..
local
blues festival just a block from my building ...
..the buildings (except for the two riverfront shots) are within a couple of blocks of me ..
..the "Garvin Gate Blues
Festival" isn't JazzFest but it was fun ..
..my building, The Mayflower,
is the tall red brick behind "Best wings" and the Rudyard Kipling ...
... hey,
there aren't any restaurants in that kind of walking distance of our
place in Raleigh ..
these pics ..
