I am currently a Ph.D. candidate in political science at Duke University. As a student of American politics my primary focus is on political institutions, and my dissertation is on the influence of partisan politics in the modern conference committee. This past summer I helped to organize and participate in the Empirical Implications of Theoretical Models (EITM) summer institute here at Duke. I grew up in Brandon, FL, which though a pretty large town by itself, used to be a suburb of Tampa. A public school kid from the sticks, I went to Davidson College initially as a physics major before finding political science (and realizing I was not that good at quantum mechanics). After graduating I worked for a couple of years as an admissions counselor at Davidson recruiting students and making admission decisions before deciding to start graduate school in 2003. I expect to defend my dissertation in Spring 2009. |
