Considered the effects of process variability on computer architectures. Investigated different architectural approaches to mitigate the effects of variability. Helped to develop a statistical timing analysis tool for analyzing the effects of process variability: Variasim.
- 09/2006 - 12/2006: Analyzing the Effect of Process Variability on Fault Tolerant Computer Architectures
Examined the impact of process variability on the number and length of critical paths in processor ALU's. Class project for ECE 254 Fault Tolerant Computing with Bogdan Romanescu.
- 09/2006 - 12/2006: A Dynamic Approach to thread Scheduling in Hardware (DASH)
Developed a hierarchical way to schedule large numbers of threads in hardware for multi-core architectures. Class project for ECE 252 Advanced Computer Architecture with Jason Bosko and Eric Rogstad. A similar work just appeared in ISCA 2007 by a group from Intel: Architectural Support for Fine-Grained Parallelism on Chip Multiprocessors.
- 02/2007: Boarding at the Speed of Flight
Four day study during the Mathematical Competition in Modeling of different airplane boarding algorithms in an attempt to determine an optimal strategy. Simulated performance of algorithms under a variety of different circumstances and performed detailed mathematical analysis.
- 02/2006: Optimizing Airport Accessibility
Four day study during the Mathematical Competition in Modeling of different mechanisms for handling handicapped passenger transportation within an airport. Considered different methods for transporting handicapped passengers in airports of different sizes.
