LNCpapa’s Computer Room

This site serves both as a catalog of my machines and additional hardware and as a product of the continuing joys computing has brought me.  Since I was about 10 I’ve had this overwhelming curiosity of computers.  I convinced my mother to buy me my first machine when I was 12 years old - it was an 8088 (yes, I had a math co-processor) with no hard drive and 2 external 5 1/4” drives.  I had an external 300 baud modem that I used to troll the BBS’ and a huge rolodex-like organizer for all my floppies.

Things have changed since those days and I’ve gone through many, many machines in that time.  For a while I was even building machines more often than once-a-year.  I was staying on the cutting-edge and was big into the over-clocking scene at one point... I even over-clocked my PS/2 port.

These days it’s stability over speed.  I refuse to over-clock anything unless I purchased it from a retail outlet that way.  If I need something faster I simply buy something faster - except that with my new set of priorities I can’t get a new machine yearly or even every 2 years.  Therefor when I get/build a new machine I try to make sure I’ll get the most longevity out of it.

This is a reflection of my passion for computers

These guys & gals make my life easier and more difficult at the same time.  I can see that my girls will be  addicts as well. Just think LAIN.
