Wants

I've wanted to walk on that fence
for quite some time.
A child would do it
and not know why.
I've wanted to cut through
this backyard, and the next and the next
all in a line.
I've wanted to kiss that girl
and punch that guy
and spit on the sidewalk
and cry for nothing.
And I've wanted to eat those peaches
and pee in the pond
and not go to sleep
and not even eat.
And I've wanted and I've wanted
and I don't know why
and I think I want to.
