The Gay Marriage Issue

My stance on the gay marriage issue is that I support civil unions. I do not believe that gay couples should be discriminated against in terms of legal marriage rights, but I believe that marriage is between a man and a woman. I think that civil unions are a reasonable compromise that the country will eventually settle on.

I do not agree with and would not vote for the majority of the state amendments listed in the link below. They go too far in my opinion by declaring that no form of union shall be recognized. I will do a follow up blog to see if these amendments pass, but I believe that if they do they will be upheld by the Supreme Court because they were passed by a direct popular vote and because other states do not have to recognize the law.
