Computer Science Autobiography

I have been using a computer for general-purpose use for nearly a decade, all PCs operating on Windows. However, I have not up until now done any complex programming.

As a physics major and probable physics graduate student in the future, I am interested in being able to create basic programs useable in experimental and theoretical science. Over the past 18 months, I have been working on a research project in theoretical nanophysics that relies heavily on simple programs in MatLab. I would like to be able to increase my ability in this area.

The theoretical end of computer science, involving things like the Halting Problem, also interests me. I have encountered pieces of it in my math classes, and have read the book Computability and Logic. I have also read a great deal about artificial intelligence, and wrote about it in Vertices.
