Background

I was born in Mexico City, where I did my undergraduate work at the Instituto de Ecología (UNAM) with Cesar Dominguez. Afterwards I moved to Duke University in North Carolina, where I did a Ph.D. in Biology in the laboratory of Mark D. Rausher.

I currently live in Canada, where I am working as a Post-Doctoral Fellow in the laboratory of Spencer C. H. Barrett in the Department of Ecology & Evolutionary Biology, University of Toronto.

In October 2008, I am starting as a Lecturer at the School of Biological and Environmental Sciences, University of Stirling, Scotland.

I am also part of the associate Editorial Board of the Journal Evolutionary Ecology.

Research Interests

My research interests include the evolution of reproductive strategies in plants, the interaction between sexual and asexual reproduction, and the mechanical fit between plants and their pollinators and its role in speciation.

If you are interested in pursuing postgraduate work in my lab, please get in touch with me.
