As part of the residency during this program, I created tutorials for three of Duke University Medical Center's computerized applications. The link above shows one of the tutorials. These tutorials were built using Captivate software and then published to flash files. They will be housed on Duke's Knowledge Base and can be used as a self help guide. N413 Preoperative Antibiotic Therapy Database This project was built as a part of the curriculum to learn
about database infrastructure. The database consists of forms, tables
and reports that compile data on the usage of antibiotics in the preoperative
setting. It is currently being used within the hospital setting. The link
above takes you to the Microsoft Access database (Microsoft Access must
be installed in order to view this database). A requirements document
was also created along with this database. To view the document click
on the link below. N315 Using PDA Reference Tools
during Perioperative Nurse Orientation This project involved a pre-implementation evaluation of a perioperative area. This area was moving forward with automated documentation, and our group elected to build a survey tool using Pendragon software to assess their needs as they moved further in this direction. Our project included a detailed strategic plan with action plan which can be viewed using the link above. The links below include the tool and the final paper that were included within the project. Project Plan Project plan and charts Final Paper This project involved the use of mindmapping to create a terminology model for a specific domain within nursing. For this project the medical-surgical domain was chosen. A patient story was written that described the caring of a specific individual. After the story was written, terminology was pulled from this story and entered into a mindmap. The final paper from the above link describes how the terminology was grouped and prioritized. A power point presentation was created from this information and can be found on the presentations page. Click on the link below to view the mindmap (Microsoft Mindmanager must be installed in order to view this map). Medical Surgical Terminology mindmap
