Teaching Experience and Prospects

Welcome to my main teaching page. Here I provide a brief overview of the courses I have taught for in the past and talk about the prospective courses I plan to teach, with links to relevant websites. On the sidebar you might also find a sample course syllabus and sample lectures. My teaching portfolio encompasses three other pages. My teaching statement provides an overview of my philosophy of teaching as well as the goals I set out for my students. My statement on the philosophy of technology provides an excerpt of my views on the use of technology in instruction. Finally, the teaching and technology statement is more specific in providing links and examples of how I have used and plan to use technology in the classroom.

I have taught for introductory level courses in political science including Introduction to Political Science for two semesters, Politics in Developing Countries, Theories of International War, and International Security, all of which were mass undergraduate courses. Currently I am working as a teaching assistant for political science graduate students enrolled in statistics and math courses; you might say I am 'a methods counselor/assistant'. Along with the grad level statistics course within political science -Intermediate Statistics-that I hope to teach for, I hope this experience will aid me in teaching beginning and intermediate statistic and/or research design courses within political science in the future.

Courses that I hope to teach in the future include Intro to IR, the sample course syllabus to which you may find on the right under 'Teaching Documents'. In addition, I also hope to teach courses mirroring and paralleling my research interests. In particular, courses on the role of territory and state borders in International Relations, are of interest. I seek to tailor these courses based on existing courses with similar topics currently taught by prominent scholars on relevant topics. The menu on the right hand side provides links to my teaching materials. My teaching pages provide my teaching statement, which delves into my teaching philosophy and goals. My technology statement is a complement to my teaching statement and deals specifically with how I make use of and hope to make use of technological tools in the class. My page on the philosophy of technology offers my perspective on the use of technology. Furthermore, my technology statement explains how I make use of the teaching materials, the links to which I provide on the right hand side menu. Additionally, each page links to the syllabi for courses I have taught for in the past as well as a sample syllabi for an introductory level course in International Relations that I seek to teach in the future.
