Research interests:
I am interested in plant systematics, especially at low taxonomic
levels. My dissertation focused on three areas: phylogeny of
Nyctaginaceae (recently published in American Journal of
Botany, pdf);
the use of single-copy nuclear genes to reveal patterns of
diversification in the nyctag genus Boerhavia (see
my abstract for a talk
on this topic to be delivered at Botany 2007 in
Chicago); and the use of highly polymorphic AFLP markers to make
detailed inferences about the underlying processes that have led to the
formation of species "complexes" in two clades of annual Boerhavias in
the Sonoran Desert. See my CV
to get an idea of other projects I am currently working on.
