John Parker: Excerpts from the Autobiography

In 1996 His Promised Land, edited by Stuart Seely Sprague, was published by W.W. Norton and Co. It is a transcription of most of the Parker autobiography, with notes and commentary. Because His Promised Land is widely available, the editors of this page have decided to use this site to complement, rather than duplicate, Sprague's work. With that in mind, we have included the following portions of Parker's autobiography:
