Hillandale's 2012 Science Day, March 23rd
This year's Science Day will be on Friday, March 23rd. We will need volunteers to make this a success! Please keep an eye out for more information coming home in your child's backpack.
Hillandale's 2011 Science Day, March 18
Our Science Day 2011 event took place on Friday, March 18. Science Day is always a fun and educational event for the students, as well as the parents and teachers. In 2011, Michael Coyne of Seaturtle.org was our noon presenter. After the main presentation, students returned to their classrooms to participate in many fun, hands-on science activities like making ice cream, making paper, making goop, dressing up as scientists, and seeing snakes.
Hillandale's 2009 Science Day, April 3rd
The 6th Annual Science Day was another huge success! Thank you to all the many volunteers! The fourth grade extends a special thanks to Dr. Tim Turkington, who created all of the lessons for 4th grade science day, procured all of the supplies, and brought a team of enthusiastic medical physics students from Duke to lead the way as we explored magnets and electricity. What a gift to Hillandale!
Hillandale's 2008 Science Day, April 18th
We had a famous speaker this year! Nobel prize winner Dr. Oliver Smithies addressed the whole school!!
