Pulsar Li began his studies in Raleigh, NC as a competitive classical pianist. He attended North Brunswick Township High School in New Jersey and the Manhattan School of Music with concentrations in both Classical and Jazz piano performance. Currently a Duke University student, majoring in Chemistry and Music and minoring in Biology, Li has broad musical influences that encompass the past’s classical, today’s rock, and music’s future. His main interests these days include jazz, rock, and electronic music. Radiohead, Medeski Martin and Wood, and The Bad Plus headline on both his winamp playlists and the long list of his musical influences. Pulsar’s interest in integrating electronic technology into an acoustic jazz setting is apparent in his performances of original and arranged works around the triangle with “the pulsar triyo”. the pulsar triyo's webpage can be found here and you can find him on Saturdays from 11-4 at Southpoint Mall's Nordstrom.
