Linguistic Puzzles

In fact, Terry treated the quarterly reports she had to write as linguistic puzzles. Although her expertise was in all forms of computer writing, on occasion it was nice to think through the strategic elements of her work in full sentences. Terry had actually enjoyed the process of writing and revising the various reports on computer criminality, security strategies, and cyberterrorism that she had co-authored in recent years. It was just the content and uses of her work that made her slightly uncomfortable some of the time. She believed strongly in justice, and there was no doubt about the fact that many of the hackers she came into indirect contact with on a daily basis performed unjust actions. In certain cases, however, she had trouble with categorically condemning the causes of men and women who were little more than concerned activists willing to use their technological training: not criminals or terrorists. In recent years, the anti-hacking laws had become so strict that, in more and more particular cases, Terry did not feel that her capture of certain individuals was always right. At the same time, her training and a lifetime of experience in the field (including some hacking when she had been a child) allowed her to understand the motivations and tendencies of these individuals better than most.
