Excerpt from Hacker Psych 101: A Cyber Security Guide to Hacker-Types (Report by: Terry Hawkington, Chandler Guevara, John Draper, et. al.):
“While hacker types including the disgruntled worker, the high-tech thief, and the kingpin are unlikely either explicitly or accidentally to announce their hack into a system (in fact, they will usually cover their tracks), other types, including the mischievous youth and the political cyberterrorist, may leave signs of their work due to hubris, a desire to recruit other likeminded individuals, or even a desire to be discovered. Only in rare cases will any of these groups combine a computer attack with a physical assault on infrastructure, property, or human beings." (December 1, 2030)
