North Carolina Highway Photos

Photos from my collection, most recent at the top... Here are some photos taken along the future US 70 Bypass of Clayton, Saturday, May 17, 2008.

If you look closely above the East in the sign you can see a covered over area. This should read 'Business' and if it does so, it is wrong since this banner belongs over  'West US 70".  You can also see the BGS for the infamous Jones Sausage Road.

Another view one mile before the new bypass on I-40 East, the blanked over sign should read I-40 / US 70 East, again you look carefully at US 70s sign there's something covering up 'Business' on the wrong side. Also notice the speed limit is 65, it does not go up to 70 MPH now until after the Bypass (whose speed limit is also 70 mph).

The US 70 signs, hopefully with the right directional banners, have already been put in place and covered up.

Here's the flyover ramp carrying East 70 onto the Bypass from I-40 East.

Here's the view of the Bypass showing the exit signage for Ranch Road and that they have completed the line striping on the east-bound Bypass at this location.

Here's the line-painting truck near the Business 70 Exit at the East End of the Bypass.
Some other Misc. Photos--

Something not seen anywhere else in the U.S., an interstate and U.S. Route with the same number sharing the same highway, these photos are near Maxton.

A rare Future interstate route on an exit sign, on I-95 south.

Sign display in Greensboro, the signs were switched from Green Business 40 signs that only went up months before, then NCDOT changed its mind on routing I-40 around Greensboro, the US 421 sign should be removed.

This sign is special because the new exit number, you can barely see the evidence of the new number pasted over the old one, is due to my correspondence with the NCDOT about possible wrong numbers on then I-540 that caused the change.
