Primary interest
is in the application of biotechnology to environmental
remediation of contaminated water, air and soil. My research
focuses on the biodegradation or biotransformation of a variety
of contaminants, including methyl tert-butyl ether (MTBE), crude
oil, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, and heavy metals. The use
and development of molecular tools utilizing analysis of DNA and
RNA provides key insights into both the fundamental and applied
aspects of the development of environmental remediation
technologies. The most recently research has been focused on
detection of mycotoxin in environment and the horizontal genetic
transfer rate during degradation of Toluene.
