A Year in the Life
of a Child
Dedicated to the Memory of Deepa Agarwal
By Dr. Pradipkumar Ramanlal
Deepa was a girl whose achievements and ambitions are unparalleled. While others dream of succeeding, Deepa spent every minute of every day making sure that success was always at her fingertips.
She was born in Evansville, Indiana, but grew up in the suburbs of Orlando, Florida. At the small prep school she attended for ten years, she participated in student council, the Key Club, and Drama. She once won a local beauty pageant, and dabbled a bit in acting. Deepa graduated from Lake Mary High School one year early, and spent that time learning about her heritage while volunteering in India.
In a mere two years, she
finished her undergraduate degree, and was ready to take on greater challenges.
As she began her graduate study in Finance at the University of Central
Florida, she became the youngest doctoral candidate in the program’s history.
But Deepa was more than just a scholar: she found time to work, to remain
active in the local temple, and to enjoy the company of her friends and
family.
