Truthfully my Christian identity is
the overarching one that governs the whole of my life and
reaches into every other mode of my existence. The grace of
God leads me to a life of significance.
I am a leader because that is my inheritance from the Lord.
I am a servant because that was Jesus' example.
I am a web designer because I want to serve God's people through
new media and fund the Kingdom through business.
I am a student because I must gain knowledge and education
in order to gain the world's respect as I speak the truth.
I am a pro-lifer because the heart of God mourns for the loss
of unborn lives.
I am a writer because there is power in words, and I will
speak and write the power of life in God.
I am a thinker because God has given man reason and free will
to choose between life and death.
I am a son because God gave me parents to raise and teach
me, and then He adopted me as His own son.
I am a friend because God has placed in my life brothers and
sisters to edify, rebuke, correct, and encourage me.
That
group of brothers and sisters in Christ is Cambridge
Campus Ministry, an outreach of my church, King's
Park International Church. They are the reason why my
Duke experience has been so memorable. If I did not have them,
Duke University would be just another place of worldly education.
I thank God so much for their wonderful support and encouragement.
I also thank Him for the amazing teaching I have received
through ministers like Kevin Primus, Brian Miller, Pastor
Ron Lewis, Pastor Simon Suh, Pastor Jim Laffoon, and Pastor
Jim Critcher. They have taken me from boyhood to manhood and
have instilled in me spiritual truths that will guide me through
all my life's endeavors.
When I was a child, I used to speak like a child, think like
a child, reason like a child; when I became a man, I did away
with childish things. - 1 Corinthians 13:11
