I completed my undergraduate and master's work with Adrien Finzi at Boston University. While there I conducted research on the cycling of organic nitrogen compounds in temperate forest soils. Specifically, I studied how organic N and amino acids in particular were produced and consumed in soils with varying soil and vegetation types. My research sites were located in the Great Mountain Forest and Hoosatonic State Forest in Norfolk and North Canaan CT.

While at Boston U, I learned a great deal of what I know know about biogeochemistry, and many of the lab methods that I still use today. I was introduced to the wonderful world of the Lachat Quickchem autoanalyzer, and the Pt catalyzed CN analyzer, and more wet chemical techniques than I care to remember. I had a wonderful time, and you can see my CV for publications that have resulted.
