Curriculum Vitae Teaching

I build micro-econometric models to analyze the policy causes and consequences of interactions between human behavior and environmental services.  Examples of models include joint production of timber and forest amenities, recreation and aesthetic uses of water quality, household production with environmental inputs, landuse dynamics in urban environments, and market impacts of regulating air pollution.  I have applied revealed and stated preference methods to estimate the benefits and costs of policies designed to preserve biodiversity, conserve forests, protect air and water quality, generate income, and reduce HIV.  I am keenly interested in issues at the intersection of economic development and environmental protection.  My international research has included analysis of environmental and health policies in India, Indonesia, the Philippines, Mexico, Brazil and Madagascar.   I am a member of the American Economic Association, the Association of Environmental and Resource Economics and the American Agricultural Economics Association. You can find additional details on my research web-page.

I have been fortunate to have diverse teaching experiences including courses in economics of forest resources, cost-benefit analysis, microeconomics, and modules in calculus, resource and environmental economics, and survey research methods.  I also advise students writing masters' theses at the Nicholas School.  You can find additional details on my teaching web-page.
