I was born in Dayton, Ohio in 1969. I grew up in various places, the most significant of which was Bettendorf, Iowa.

I attended Northwestern University in Evanston, IL, where I was a student in Mathematical Methods in the Social Sciences and Economics.

I graduated in 1991 and I became a Peace Corps Volunteer in Ghana. I taught mathematics for two years in the Wa Secondary School of Wa, Upper West Region, and for one year in the Lincoln School of Accra. Another persepctive on the PCV experience in Ghana can be found at the Lawra and Navrongo Home Page.

After completing my stay in Ghana I and my lovely wife spent some time in the great city of Chicago where our son Ryan was born. I am currently a PhD. student in economics at Duke University. where several of my friends have home pages. I am specializing in macroeconomics, urban economics and econometrics.

Some of the data from the research of Dr. Charles Clotfelter (which I worked on as a research assistant) is available at data
