Students will be able to identify the characterization of Oedipus the King. *Competency Goal 2.02 – Learners will engage in discussion that examines the cause and effect relationship among events by effectively summarizing events as well as by developing a graphic to illustrate the logical connection among events before and during Oedipus the King. *Competency Goal 5.01 – Learners will analyze the literary device of characterization and how it affects Oedipus the King. |

| Objective / Purpose | Today, we will learn the Cadmus and Oedipus myth that is the
foundation for Sophocles' Oedipus the King. I will put the story
on the board so that you can draw a visual representation as well as
take notes in your notebooks. We
will also look at how Oedipus characterizes himself and how the Thebans
characterize him.
Go over homework.
