Any discussion today of Heaven's Gate can only be preliminary. Thus far we've been inundated with press coverage, late-night television and Net jokes, and head-shaking dismay at the group's "fringeness." But what makes Heaven's Gate so compelling? Why do they strike a chord for us? What do we see of ourselves in their very "otherness"?

Please use this reponse form to share your thoughts on Heaven's Gate with the Duke community. Kellee James, a student in Ethics and the Internet, will pull together your messages and post them on this Website as a follow-up. We hope to facilitate a dialogue that continues beyond this lecture.
