. Alaska .

Summer, 2003: Alaska is an amazing place. Moose, bears, bald eagles, and even whales are more common than people in much of the state. Mountains, some still carved by glaciers, are visible from everywhere you stand. People say you should save your trip to Alaska until you have already traveled the world, because after visiting Alaska, everything else will pale in comparison. Or perhaps this just means I'll have to go back.
