Summer, 2003: Cherokee is a place where owning a boat makes more sense than a car, and folks leave their doors unlocked, so neighbors may drop off a hot johnny cake while they're out. Tourists have not yet discovered the quiet settlement, and nearby bays are full of shells, pink sand, and beautiful views of the ocean.
